This little fella’s name is Luke. Cool Hand Luke Yantis. Check out that swagger.I met the Yantis family at the Chicago Botanic Garden for an early morning summer session. Little Luke recently turned three, so we set out to capture all that is Luke Brian Yantis, three years old.Luke is quite the adventurer. He is very curious about the world around him, so I took the role of "patient observer" following Luke around as he dipped his fingers (and shoes) in water, smelled the flowers, and explored the contents of a utility shed. I quickly found that this was the most effective approach because Luke (like many children AND adults) is not a fan of getting his picture taken. Make it a game, and now I’m speaking Luke’s language.Luke loves to talk. He was telling me all about his recent trip to Michigan where he got to drive a boat, but he didn’t get in the “dark lake water”. His cousin Ava kept coming up in his stories.  I later came to find out I had taken Ava’s pictures earlier this year! Small world. I absolutely love when that happens. Luke’s smile and laughter is contagious. He’s a playful little guy with a loving heart. When we walked to different locations, Luke insisted on being held and snuggled by his mom, and when it came time to capture pictures, Luke wanted his dad in on all of the fun. It is apparent that this is a tight family unit. I loved spending my Sunday morning in the sunshine amidst beautiful gardens taking pictures of this little dude. Happy birthday, Luke! I hope year three brings much happiness!
